Angels Down Rangers, 6-5
|
The Los Angeles Angels overcame a fine performance by Texas right fielder Jeremy Kinney to defeat the Rangers, 6-5, at Globe Life Field. Kinney went 3 for 6 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Takaaki Ichikawa snagged the win in relief. In 3 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 2-3 on the season. Los Angeles has now reeled off 6 straight wins.
The outcome might have been different for Los Angeles, had it not been for Mike Trout, the three-time All-Star . Trout stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 15th inning to put Los Angeles up, 5-4. For the game, he was 3 for 7, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Texas manager Matt Guerrier. "But we decided not to take it."
