Bees Heading to Championship
|
The championship aspirations of the Salt Lake Bees are still alive and well, while the Sacramento River Cats are left to wait until next year.
Salt Lake won the clinching game of the Round 1 3-2 over Sacramento at Sutter Health Park, to win the series 3-1.
"You feel like a little kid again, celebrating something like this," said second baseman Brooks LeConte, who paced the Salt Lake offense and was named series MVP. "We take everything real seriously when we're on the field, but after a series is over you can finally relax a little bit."
LeConte claimed the MVP by racking up 7 hits for a .412 average, with a .412 on-base percentage. He had 0 home runs, 1 RBI and scored 3 runs.
The Salt Lake Bees don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Memphis Redbirds - Iowa Cubs series. That series is tied at 1 game each. The Championship schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
