Dilley, Great Falls Start Round 1 Strong with Home Win

The rookie looked like he belonged out there.
The Great Falls Voyagers sent 22-year-old left-hander Keith Dilley to the mound today for a high-pressure playoff start and he repaid their confidence, quieting the Missoula Osprey on a day where the Voyagers struggled to produce runs of their own. In the end, Great Falls cobbled together enough to take the 2-1 decision. The win gave Great Falls a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 Round 1.
Had Ricardo Perez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Perez hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Voyagers.
"The competition leap this year was tough to adjust to and I feel like there has been another jump in the playoffs," said Perez, a rookie this season. "You're only playing the best now and everyone has time to rest and prepare for you."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Centene Stadium in Great Falls.
