Estiven Machado Takes MVP Trophy

The future looks extremely bright for Estiven Machado. At the age of 21, many players are still trying to find their way in Pioneer League.
Machado has not only found his way, he's already established himself as one of the game's brightest stars, today being named the winner of the Pioneer League Hitter of the Year Award.
"I didn't expect to hit .365 this year, that's for sure," the third baseman said.
The Orem Owlz star also put up a .443 on-base percentage this year, with 77 hits, 16 doubles, 4 triples, 6 home runs, 30 RBIs and 45 runs scored.
He received 6 first place votes out of a possible 8. Bill Hunt of the Grand Junction Rockies finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Tomas Pena of the Orem Owlz finished third.

Orem Manager O'Sullivan Named Top Skipper in PIO

Kevin O'Sullivan celebrated a successful season with the Orem Owlz by hosting team officials and select media at a Orem area first-class eatery. But when he first came to town, the 2023 Pioneer League Manager of the Year was met with a good measure of skepticism.
"Very few people believed in our ballclub when I got here. It just goes to show you that a bunch of talented ballplayers playing together can make any old manager a genius," a modest O'Sullivan joked, not fully recognizing his own stature in the baseball community.
However, baseball journalists duly noted his managerial skill as he skippered the Owlz to a 49-19 record this year and a first place finish in the South.
