The Detroit Tigers had to overcome a fine effort from Los Angeles pitcher Paul Erickson to grab a narrow 2-1 win at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Erickson went 7 innings and allowed 1 run. Detroit reliever Kyle Muller picked up the win, upping his record to 6-4. Takaaki Ichikawa was saddled with the loss. The Tigers go to 31-52 with the win.
The outcome might have been different for Detroit, had it not been for Enrique Bradfield Jr., the 22-year old center fielder . Bradfield Jr. stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Detroit up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 3, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Every loss stings," said Los Angeles manager Darin Erstad. "This one is no exception."
