Boston beat Texas on the strength of starter Roberto Muñíz's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 4-3. Boston reliever Mitchell Traver picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Jason Wiley was saddled with the loss. The win gives Boston a season record of 44-41.
Had Kenny Gentry not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Gentry hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Red Sox.
Gentry called the win "a team effort."
