The Detroit Tigers went down to defeat to Matthew Thompson and his Seattle teammates. The final score was 4-0 in favor of the Mariners. Thompson went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 7-4. The victory gives Seattle a record of 61-31.
The Mariners got an important contribution from shortstop Francisco Lindor, who in the bottom of the third knocked a first pitch curveball into left-center for a run-scoring double. It was his 21st double of the season and put the Mariners ahead, 2-0.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Thompson told the Seattle Bulletin.
