5 Straight Wins for Reds
|
Buster Posey impressed in the 6-5 Cincinnati win over San Francisco. Posey, who finished 3rd in the NL in on-base percentage with .393 in 2018, was 3 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Cincinnati reliever Alex Faedo picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. John Hawkins absorbed the loss. Joe Gray earned the save, his 18th.
Micah Mason drove in one run for Cincinnati. The 23-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring ground out off John Hawkins. It was his 2nd RBI of the season.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said San Francisco manager Will Clark. "But we decided not to take it."
The Giants, at 40-57, have lost 5 in a row.
