Conditions were not ideal but Minnesota and St. Louis were able to put their game in the books.

Minnesota third baseman Kaleb Cowart had a 3-RBI performance, which helped his team down the St. Louis Cardinals, 9-5. Minnesota reliever Jimmy Reyes picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Kent Cook shouldered the loss. George Dawson was called on to finish, recording his 1st save.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the seventh, with the game tied, Alfonso Javier was at the plate when Minnesota scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Twins to go in front, 7-5.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Javier.

Minnesota, at 69-41, is 15 games up in the American League Central.
