Blue Jays Rally For 5-3 Win
|
The Toronto Blue Jays picked up a win at Great American Ball Park, knocking off the Cincinnati Reds, 5-3. On the mound for Toronto was left-hander Aroldis Chapman, who played a pivotal role in the win. Klaas Bongers snagged the win in relief. In 1.2 innings, the right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 2-3 on the season. Pasqualino Carosi finished to wrap up his 37th save.
Josh Wilcox, the 2018 Most Valuable Player Award winner , had a direct impact on the outcome. Wilcox contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Toronto up, 3-2.
Chapman called the win "a team effort."
The American League East-leading Blue Jays have a record of 74-50.
