New Hampshire and Portland duked it out and the Fisher Cats came out victorious.

Portland wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Michael Kata, falling to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 4-3. Kata threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Will O'Neal earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 3 innings. His record is now 1-0.

The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Ismael Báez came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Portland pitcher Esteban Márquez, he hit a first pitch curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting New Hampshire on top, 4-3.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Báez said.

The win puts New Hampshire at 3-2.
