Nationals Deal Yankees 7-6 Loss
|
Well, that's how to end a game in style.
In a tight contest at Nationals Park, the Washington Nationals edged the New York Yankees by the score of 7-6. Washington first baseman Loren Rogers, who blasted 2 home runs, was a key contributor. Cy Young, IV, now 1-3, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings.
Washington won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With one out and Trent Higginbotham on the mound for New York, left fielder George Valera hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Nationals fans to their feet.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Rogers said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The Nationals now have a record of 43-90.
