Extra innings were needed to determine a winner at Yankee Stadium.

The Toronto Blue Jays weathered a fine game by New York left fielder Lance Parrish to upend the Yankees, 8-5, at Yankee Stadium. Parrish went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Toronto reliever Vinnie Pestano picked up the win, upping his record to 9-2. Cal Quantrill absorbed the loss.

Toronto used the clutch hitting of Charles Cutler to capture the win. The catcher drilled a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning to put the Blue Jays ahead, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Cutler.

The American League East-leading Blue Jays have a record of 90-63.
