The Seattle Mariners did just enough to secure a victory over the Texas Rangers, 2-1, at Globe Life Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Landon Sims. Roger Willis got credit for the win, improving to 11-3. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The third-place Mariners have won 8 in a row.

Seattle took a 2-1 lead on Jason Castro's 26th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Castro hit in the top of the ninth, left Texas pitcher Jason Wiley shaking his head.

"I still think this team can play even better," Sims told the Seattle Bulletin.
