Crowds lined up early in front of Wichita Ballpark, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2024 Pacific Coast League season. On the mound was Mick Abel for the visiting Nashville Sounds and Matthew Danielson for the hometown Wichita Wind Surge. In a spirited contest, the Sounds pulled out the win, defeating the Wind Surge by the score of 4-3. Especially impressive was Matthew Danielson. Nashville reliever Mack Anglin picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Gerald Montgomery took the loss.

Nashville used the clutch hitting of Esteban González to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Sounds the lead, 4-3. For the game, González had 1 single and 1 double in 2 at-bats.

"We put together a nice win," González said.
