The bats were silent much of the day at Cheney Stadium. But Mike Poor conjured up just enough offense to carry the Aviators past the Tacoma Rainiers, 3-2. Poor went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3. Austin Cox finished to wrap up his 5th save. The win gives Las Vegas a record of 10-8.
Las Vegas used the timely hitting of Jarred West to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Aviators on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Tough loss," said Tacoma manager Blake Davis. "But we'll learn from it."
