The Fresno Grizzlies had to overcome a fine effort from Reno pitcher Ron Tillman to grab a narrow 6-5 win at Chukchansi Park. Tillman went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 runs. Dean Anderson picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-3. Tyler Skaggs was tagged with the loss. Garrett Crochet got the save, the 4th for him this season.

Jaxx Groshans drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances for Fresno. The 24-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Tyler Skaggs. It was his 5th RBI of the season.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Reno manager Jose Valentin. "The effort was great."

The Aces fall to 7-15 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2023 season.
