|
Grizzlies center fielder Martin Wareham put his stamp on his team's 5-3 win over the Reno Aces. Wareham went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for Fresno in the contest. Fresno reliever Ryley Gilliam was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Reggie Wilson. Emerson Hancock earned the save, his 1st.
Bob Smith helped the cause in the bottom of the sixth. With a runner on 1st, he hit a single. His at-bat contributed to the Fresno win.
Wareham expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
The Aces, now 8-16 this season, have struggled to play .500 ball.
