Chihuahuas Come Up Short at Albuquerque, 5-4
|
Despite a great performance by El Paso second baseman Carlos Cortes, the Albuquerque Isotopes defeated the Chihuahuas by the score of 5-4 at Isotopes Park. Cortes went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 times. Juan Trujillo earned the win to go to 2-4. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts in 5 innings of work. Nicholas Kingham closed the game out for Albuquerque, earning his 4th save.
Dashawn Keirsey Jr., the Albuquerque center fielder, contributed a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth inning to make the score 3-2, Isotopes. For the game, Keirsey Jr. was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," El Paso manager Danny Dorn said following the tough loss.
Albuquerque is now 15-17, El Paso 18-14.
