Archer Leads Sky Sox to 6-4 Win Over Wind Surge
|
The Colorado Springs Sky Sox beat the Wichita Wind Surge by a score of 6-4. Colorado Springs first baseman Bradley Archer deserved the lion's share of the credit. Archer was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Sky Sox. Jack Leiter, the winning pitcher, is now 3-5. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 0. The win has Colorado Springs at 25-40.
The Wind Surge had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Sky Sox going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old catcher Bernie Wolfe came to the plate. Wolfe hit a 3-run home run on a 1-0 changeup from Wichita hurler Alex Calipari. It was Wolfe's 1st home run of the year.
Wolfe told a Colorado Springs Citizen reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
