Cubs Topple Express with Late Rally
|
Despite a great performance by Round Rock second baseman Marshall Larkin, the Iowa Cubs defeated the Express by the score of 8-6 at Principal Park. Larkin was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 3 walks, while scoring 3 runs. Jeff Criswell, now 1-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 2.1 innings. Rich Beasley converted his 2nd save in 2 tries.
Matthew Lugo hit a 2-run double off Austin Becker in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Cubs in front, 7-5. In addition to the double, Lugo had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Iowa manager Mike Maddux.
With the win, Iowa upped its record to 62-59.
