Sacramento beat Salt Lake on the strength of starter Diego Quintana's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-2. Quintana, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. The first-place River Cats, at 83-55, now lead their division by 11½ games.
Cole Roederer had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the seventh for Sacramento. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Sacramento in front, 4-2.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Roederer.
