A 3-RBI performance from José Valdéz, who is tied for 9th in the EL in stolen bases with 6, helped the Richmond Flying Squirrels beat the New Britain Rock Cats, 5-1. The save went to Rafael Pérez, his 13th this season. With the win, Richmond pushed its record to 29-26.

Francis Cummins aided the Richmond cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the second. For the game, the third baseman was 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Cummins. "And not try to do too much."
