Flying Squirrels Win at Portland, 4-3
|
Richmond Flying Squirrels starter Steve Frer was in fine form against the Portland Sea Dogs at Hadlock Field, leading his team to a win, 4-3. Frer got the win, improving to 7-3. He allowed 6 hits and walked 0 over 7 innings. Frer allowed 3 runs. Earning his 8th save for Richmond was Jason Kramer.
Richmond used the timely hitting of José Hernández to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Flying Squirrels ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I felt good up there," said Hernández. "I saw the ball well."
Richmond raised its record to 43-32 with the win.
