The Akron RubberDucks picked up a win at Jerry Uht Park, knocking off the Erie SeaWolves, 6-5. Starting pitcher Matt McSwain was a big reason why. McSwain, the winner, moves to 4-1. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Picking up the save was Parker Kelly, his 4th.

Akron used a well-timed hit by Vic Shields to capture the win. The first baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the RubberDucks ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

In postgame comments to the Akron Observer, Shields said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

Akron has now won 4 straight, while the SeaWolves have lost 3 in a row.
