Fightin Phils Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Flying Squirrels, 2-0
The Reading Fightin Phils topped the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 2-0, in Eastern League action at The Diamond. The standout performance belonged to Reading pitcher and Germantown, Wisconsin, native Zack Showalter. Kevin Abel earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 6-0. With the win, Reading raised its record to 55-41.

Reading used a clutch hit from Jawuan Harris to get the win. The right fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Fightin Phils ahead, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"The old adage is true," said Harris. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
