Flying Squirrels Rally For 3-1 Win
|
The Richmond Flying Squirrels took New Britain pitcher Ricardo Zapata's best shot and still were able to claim a win at New Britain Stadium. The final score had Richmond getting past the Rock Cats, 3-1. Zapata went 7 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 10. The 4th-place Rock Cats have lost 4 consecutive games.
José Hernández, the 25-year old first baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Hernández contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Richmond up, 3-1.
Afterward, Flying Squirrels manager Chris Tracz was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
