Thunder Come Up Short at Reading, 5-4
|
The Reading Fightin Phils picked up a win at FirstEnergy Stadium, taking down the Trenton Thunder, 5-4. Starting pitcher Stanford Marchand was a big reason why. Alan Jewell, now 5-0, was credited with the win. He allowed 3 runs on 2 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 3. Elijah Manning was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 7 save opportunities.
Christopher Rogers contributed a productive at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With a runner on 1st, he hit a double. It was one at-bat that helped Reading get the win.
"It was a good effort all around," said Rogers.
The triumph puts Reading at 63-49 for the season.
