Flying Squirrels Win, 4-2, at Binghamton
|
The game between Richmond and Binghamton is in the books, despite a little rain.
The Richmond Flying Squirrels saddled the Binghamton Rumble Ponies with a loss at NYSEG Stadium. The final score was 4-2. Ryan Hughes was 2 for 3, including 1 single and 1 home run. The Richmond designated hitter scored 1 run and drove in 2. Steve Frer, the winner, improved to 9-7. He held the Rumble Ponies to 2 runs on 5 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 0. Rafael Pérez got the save, his 19th in 20 chances.
With Richmond leading 2-1 in the top of the fifth, Hughes hit a fastball from Javier Escobar for a 2-run home run. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Flying Squirrels ahead, 4-1.
"I thought we played a nice game," Hughes told the Richmond Chronicle. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
Richmond now has a record of 66-49 with the win.
