Jacob Maton could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Binghamton Rumble Ponies lost, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Portland Sea Dogs at NYSEG Stadium. Michael Kata earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 5 innings. He upped his record to 5-6. The Sea Dogs, at 55-63, sit in 4th place in the North.

Ricardo Román, the former first round draft pick , had a direct impact on the outcome. Román contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the fifth inning to put Portland up, 2-1.
