The Reading Fightin Phils picked up a win at Mercer County Waterfront Park, knocking off the Trenton Thunder, 8-1. Starting pitcher Stanford Marchand was a big reason why. The Fightin Phils, at 80-62, have now won 5 straight.

Spencer Jernstad, the 25-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Jernstad contributed a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put Reading up, 4-0.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Jernstad.
