Rumble Ponies Drop Flying Squirrels, 6-3

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies topped the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 6-3, in Eastern League action at The Diamond. The game was highlighted by the performance of Binghamton pitcher Aidan Atikinson. Atikinson, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 1 walk. Germán Guzmán earned the save for Binghamton, his 1st of the year.
Binghamton used a well-timed hit by Jason Thompson to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Rumble Ponies ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
Atikinson called the win "a collective effort."
With their winning streak at 6, the Rumble Ponies have raced to a strong start this season.
