With center fielder Jeff Poe leading the charge, the Erie SeaWolves defeated the Bowie Baysox, 7-3, at Prince George's Stadium. Poe, who is tied for 9th in the EL in home runs with 2, went 2 for 2 with a double and 3 walks. Erie starter Ricky Vanasco was credited with the win after throwing 99 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 2-0. Félix Domínguez earned the save for Erie, his 1st.

The result might have been different for Erie, had it not been for Zane Beach, the 24-year old catcher . Beach stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put Erie up, 3-2. For the game, he had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Poe told the Erie Observer. "It's as simple as that."
