Mariners Turn Back Chicago, 8-6

The timely hitting of Jeren Kendall helped the Seattle Mariners down the Chicago Cubs, 8-6. Kendall went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Mariners. Seattle reliever Joe Gray was the winner. His record is now 2-0. Landon Leach took the loss. The save was credited to Jordan Walden, his 4th.
With Seattle trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth, Kendall hit a fastball from Landon Leach for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Mariners ahead, 6-4.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Kendall said.
The Cubs are now 5-9.
