Great Effort by Red Sox RF James Not Enough in 8-5 Loss
The Cleveland Guardians overcame a good performance by Boston right fielder Earl James to knock off Boston, 8-5, at Fenway Park. James went 3-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Earning his 2nd save for Cleveland was Riley Pint. The Red Sox fall to 7-10 and continue their lackluster start in 2024.

Jorge Ayala, the 29-year old left fielder , had a direct impact on the outcome. Ayala contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning to put Cleveland up, 5-4.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Ayala.
