Diamondbacks Lose to Cubs, 5-3
|
The inspired effort of Arizona first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was not enough to prevent a loss, 5-3, to the Chicago Cubs. Guerrero Jr. went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winning pitcher was Tyler Brennan. He's now 2-3. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits for the Cubs. The Cubs, now 15-7, have been red hot.
Dylan Crews had an important at-bat with two out in the bottom of the fourth, when he hit a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season put Chicago on top, 5-1.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Crews said.
