Athletics Snatch Late Win
The Oakland Athletics had to overcome a big game from New York left fielder Lance Parrish to leave Yankee Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning 11-9. Parrish went 3-5 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Oakland reliever Brody Matthews got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Brandon Creath was tagged with the loss. New York, now 6-20, continues its tough start.

Oakland needed the clutch hitting of Brandon Gill to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Athletics on top, 9-8. For the game, Gill had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.

"Ugly win or not, we'll take it," said Gill.
