Tatis Jr. Clobbers 3 HR Against Diamondbacks
Wednesday, April 13th , 2022
Houston Astros shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. put on a dazzling display of power today at Chase Field against the Arizona Diamondbacks. In the 9-2 Astros victory Tatis Jr. penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.

"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Arizona manager Bob Melvin said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."

Along with his three home runs, the 23-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Tatis Jr. said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."

Fernando Tatis Jr. hit a solo-shot off Jeffrey Stone in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Emílio Salazar in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Kevin Klein in the 9th.

Looking at his season stats, Tatis Jr. has compiled a .283 batting average and a .353 on-base percentage, while hitting 5 home runs and driving in 15 runs.
