5-Hit Blitz by Hiura Saturday, June 11th , 2022 A jubilant Keston Hiura joined the postgame press conference at Comerica Park today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Toronto Blue Jays pitching staff he had just vanquished. "It may not have looked like it," said the Detroit Tigers designated hitter, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different." That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-9 hitting performance, which led the Tigers to a 15-14 win. "He made it look easy," said Curtis Granderson, manager of the Blue Jays. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously." Keston Hiura doubled in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, singled in the 7th, hit a three-run home run off Enosil Tejeda in the 8th, struck out in the 10th, grounded out in the 13th, struck out in the 15th, hit a two-run double in the 16th and hit an RBI single in the 17th.
