Kansas City Royals Ship Garner to Pittsburgh Wednesday, May 5th, 2021 After prolonged negotiations Kansas City agreed to ship 26-year-old LHP Melvin Garner to Pittsburgh for 28-year-old minor league RHP Cody Buckel and 20-year-old minor league RHP Alvin Tigner. The deal is awaiting confirmation from the league office but neither team expects any hang-ups. "It took longer than expected," said one GM, "but we knew that the deal was going to happen." In 5 starts this season Garner has registered a 0-4 record and a 8.72 ERA. Buckel has compiled a 9-7 career mark, pitched in 50 games, been credited with 1 save and posted a 4.79 ERA. He has 116 strikeouts in 133.1 innings pitched. |
