William Martin out of Lineup 3-4 Weeks Friday, August 20th, 2021 Dealing with injuries is part of the game, and now William Martin of the Cardinals knows this firsthand. He was injured against the Pittsburgh Pirates while throwing a pitch. Because of chronic back soreness, the St. Louis reliever is expected to miss 3-4 weeks. Martin was a little upset, but understands it comes with the territory. "Baseball can be a contact sport. You try to be careful, but no matter how careful you are, injuries happen." Martin has made 31 relief appearances this year and notched no saves. To date in 31.2 innings he has a 1-0 record, 4.55 ERA with 45 strikeouts and 12 walks. |
