O'Dell Helps New York Cruise to 11-3 Win
|
The New York Yankees pinned a convincing loss on the New York Mets, 11-3, at Citi Field. Greg O'Dell was a main factor in the win. He was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 5 for New York. Baden Albury earned the win to go to 10-11. He allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with no walks and 7 strikeouts in 7 innings of work. The Yankees raised their record to 74-87.
With New York leading 6-1 in the top of the second, O'Dell came up to bat against New York pitcher Eric Pelletier. O'Dell hit a curveball to center for a grand slam home run. His 21st home run of the season put the Yankees on top, 10-1.
"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said New York manager Andrew McCutchen.
