Chicago first baseman Jonathan Braswell made his presence felt in the 6-5 Cubs triumph over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Braswell was 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Roki Sasaki, the winning pitcher, improved to 8-6. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 5 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 6. At 31-41, Chicago is in last place in the National League Nolan Ryan Division.
Sergio Arenas aided the Chicago cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the third baseman drove in one run.
