Vancouver had no answer for Las Vegas Venom hurler Jeremy Derthick, who overwhelmed Mounties hitters as the Venom coasted to victory, 6-1. With the victory, the Venom record now stands at 70-63.

Jorge Flores had a big 3-run home run for the Venom in the bottom of the third inning. With Las Vegas leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Gilberto Juarbe and swatted a home run to center. It was his 25th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Venom ahead, 5-0.

"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Derthick. "Successful pitchers do it."
