Athletics Bridle Red Sox, 4-2
|
The Oakland Athletics defeated the Boston Red Sox, 4-2, in American League action at O.co Coliseum. Matt Altieri pulled his weight. The 15-year veteran went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Getting the save was Steve DiDomenico, his 9th. The victory gives Oakland a record of 22-12.
Oakland took a 3-2 lead on Muneo Kawachi's 6th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Kawachi hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Boston pitcher Greg Hart visibly frustrated.
Altieri called winning a team effort. "It's not the same guy every time," he said. "It's the sum of the parts."
