Nationals, Lentz Blast Blue Jays, 10-2
|
The performance of Rudolph Lentz proved critical in helping Washington beat Toronto, 10-2. The Nationals designated hitter was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once. Washington, at 28-24, sits in second place in the National League East Division.
With Washington leading 6-2 in the bottom of the eighth, Lentz came up to bat against Toronto pitcher Chase Schlong. Lentz hit a fastball to center for a grand slam home run. His 4th home run of the season put the Nationals on top, 10-2.
Washington manager Mike Shore commended his team for "putting the pedal to the metal."
