The California Angels overcame a good performance by Seattle first baseman Carey Horncole to knock off Seattle, 8-3, at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. Horncole went 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Josh Brewer earned the win for California. He lasted 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 5. With the win, he raised his record to 2-5. The second-place Angels have won 5 in a row.
Fred Saxton, who is tied for 10th in the AL in hits with 65, helped out the California cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the shortstop was 4-5 with a double and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
