Dodgers Handled by Philadelphia, 6-4
|
The timely hitting of Chris Blue helped the Philadelphia Phillies down the Los Angeles Dodgers, 6-4. Blue went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Phillies. Ed Gates, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. Ferdi Schipper earned save number 2 this season.
Blue had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 cutter from Timmy John Aaron-Lee Frank Silveira, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Phillies a 4-2 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Blue.
"Nice to tuck this win away," said Blue.
The win puts Philadelphia at 21-48.
