Mets Top Blue Jays in Extras, 2-1
|
Toronto pitcher Spencer Jones gave the Mets all they could handle, but in the end, New York left Rogers Centre with a win, 2-1. Jones allowed 1 run on 4 hits over 7.1 innings. New York, with the win, climbs to 24-47.
New York used a clutch hit from Russ Shambaugh to get the win. The center fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Mets ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"What a great win for our team," said a jubilant Nakashi Mets, the New York manager.
