Astros Down White Sox, 6-4
|
The Houston Astros defeated the Chicago White Sox, 6-4, in American League action at U.S. Cellular Field. Houston pitcher Jimmy Edlin had a standout performance. Terry Huffmaster came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 2-1. The third-place Astros are now 38-42, the White Sox 52-28.
Houston took advantage of an error in the top of the seventh inning. The game was tied, 2-2, when Henry Alvizo hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put Houston in front, 3-2.
"Winning makes the heart grow fonder -- for more winning," said Alvizo, cracking a smile.
